FUNERAL TIME HAS CHANGED DUE TO FLOODING AND POWER OUTAGE IN SUMNER.
Rachel L. Tiedt, 82, of Sumner, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.
Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 am. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner with Rev. Dale Rausch celebrating. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Fairbank at 1:30 on Monday also. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00-11:00am. Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Monday at the church. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner is assisting the family.
Rachel Lorain daughter of Leo and Zilla (Fildes) Herzenach was born on June 13, 1935 in Western Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Rachel graduated high school from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Fairbank in 1952. On June 16, 1952, she was united in marriage with Jerald Tiedt at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank. Jerald and Rachel were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank for many years, prior to becoming members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner. Rachel enjoyed playing cards, reading, and going to flea markets and garage sales.
Rachel is survived by one son, Joseph Tiedt and his fiancé, Becky Siggelkov of Sumner; five grandchildren, Valerie (Justin) Warnke of rural Sumner, Sean (Claire) Tiedt of Harlingen, Texas, Tina Bockholt of La Porte City, Monica (George) Siggelkov of Chicago, Illinois, and Amy (Brock) Rettinger of Sumner; and six great grandchildren, Shane, Dillon and Emily, Zen, Peyton, and Braxtyn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald who died on April 26, 2014; an infant son, James; and two siblings, Joseph and Roberta.
